30-year-old man Accused of Raping his Neighbor's 4-year-old son in Lagos State(Photo)

A man identified as Prince Ovivare, 30, has been accused of raping his neighbor's 4 year old son at their home in Aguda area of Lagos state last Wednesday June 29th.
The mother of the victim who spoke to Vanguard, said her son returned from school and went to play with Uncle Prince. When she called him to come home, her son told her the suspect whom he refers to as Brother Prince, had kissed him and put his "wee wee inside his bum bum".

"Normally, my son stays in the Headteacher’s house after school when I am not through with my work. So when we came home, I gave him food and bathed him. After sometime he said ‘mummy I want to go outside and play’. Since I was still busy with cleaning, I allowed him. After sometime, when I did not hear his voice, I came outside and shouted his name. He ran out from a neighbour’s room. I asked him what he was doing there. He said Brother Prince was kissing him and put his wee wee inside his bum bum. I checked my son and he had some bruises on his buttocks. I rushed to Aguda Police Station. They took my statement, asked my son questions and he kept repeating the same thing. Then police referred me to Mirabel Centre at Ikeja Teaching Hospital. The next morning, I took my son to Ikeja and the doctors did some tests. After examining him, they confirmed he was indeed assaulted. At the hospital, they gave me some drugs and said they should make sure that the suspect is arrested. I went back to the station and came with police to arrest him. I want relevant agencies to come to my help for justice. I need justice for this wickedness done to my child. My son is traumatised. He told me the suspect said he would kill him (my son) if he told me. I have not been able to sleep for days now. I cannot even eat. How could this human being be this wicked?”she said

Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmos, while confirming the incident, said the police is awaiting the test results carried out on the victim at Mirabel Centre. She added that the suspect, Prince Ovivare, is now in police custody.

Senator Stella Oduah Reacts to Report that N2.5bn was found in Account Owned by her Housemaid

Sen. Stella Oduah released a press statement to tackle the allegation against her that N2.5bn was found In an account owned by her maid.
Read statement below...

The attention of Senator Stella Oduah representing Anambra North Senatorial District has been drawn to another malicious and fictitious rumour by online tabloid Sahara Reporters that a non existent source in Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have discovered the sum of N2.5 Billion Naira in an account opened in the name of unnamed housemaid of Senator Stella Oduah.

We will like to state unequivocally that this report is totally false, baseless and at best the imagination of the platform who is only set out to extort and blackmail leaders in its continuous attempt by their paymasters to break the rank of Senators of the 8th Assembly.

Over the past few months, the once respected online platform, Sahara Reporters has continued to surpass itself by continuously sinking to an all time low of posting uncorroborated reports to mislead Nigerians to promote the agenda of certain elements who's fight against corruption can only been seen on pages of newspaper and pockets of their media spinners while millions of Nigerians remain unemployed and hundreds of thousands of kids go to bed hungry day in day out.

The online platform claimed their sources in EFCC said a whopping 5.6 billion must have been stolen, then went further to contradict itself that the agency had determined it was 3.6 Billion then again reduced it to 2.5 billion in the same publication. The distinguish Senator laments the despicable low that Sahara Reporters has drawn the reputable profession of journalism too which unfortunately unsuspecting platforms will copy and paste on theirs without even lifting a pen to confirm the story. Senator further went to challenge if truly such account exists as claimed by the online platform and it is still operational and she not the so called housemaid have not been called in for questioning when the agency is freezing accounts and going after opposition governors who enjoy same level of immunity as the president.

Senator Stella Oduah who made a name for herself during her tenure as a minister instituting serious reforms in the aviation sector and in last one year as a Distinguish Senator has raised series of important Bills and Motions to help strengthen the Nigerian Economy and our institutions reiterated that at no time did she ask or try to meet with the EFCC Chairman

Senator Stella Oduah who is currently in her constituency thanked her supporters and well wishers who have reached out to vent their frustrations at the unethical behavior of the tabloid assured them that there is nothing to worry about, restating that no such accounts exist and challenged Sahara reporters to present details of their funding and how the platform is able to afford a property in choice area of Maitama in Abuja

We also want to state that while the online platform, well known for its penchant lies and spurious allegations may have made another calculated attempt to taint the enviable record and achievements of the distinguished Senator who had made a mark in Oil/Gas and Agricultural businesses before joining politics, we therefore challenge Sahara Reporters to produce evidence of the imaginary account of the supposed housemaid to members of the public.

Tragic : Teenager, Fola Orebiyi, 17, Knifed to Death After ‘Being Chased by Youths on Bikes’ in Notting Hill(Photo)

Fola Orebiyi was stabbed to death in Notting Hill in front of horrified tourists and passers-by after fleeing from a gang of youths on bikes, yesterday, July 3rd.

According to Evening Standard, the 17-year-old student who was studying A levels at Chelsea Academy after completing his GCSEs at Holland Park, collapsed and bled to death in Portobello Road last night just yards from busy pubs and restaurants.

Customers and staff from the near-by Portobello Star pub rushed to help him as he staggered down the street. Paramedics and doctors attempted life saving treatment in the road but the teenager died at the scene. Witnesses said fight is said to have broken out on a nearby estate before he was chased into the busy road where he was attacked in front of horrified locals and tourists.

One witness, Mark Gettleson said Fola was stabbed in the neck. He heard the cries of staff at the pub as they tried to help the teenager as he staggered down the busy road. He eventually collapsed outside a shop. "I got home from the gym and heard a bit of commotion, then I heard someone scream ‘Did anybody see anything? I rushed to the window and police were already there talking to the poor boy who was in a bloody heap on the floor. There were two large pools of blood where he had staggered down the road before collapsing. People saw him fall down and try to get to his feet again.

Police and paramedics tried to resuscitate him for a long time, they did everything they could. This will shake people around here to the core. It’s absolutely tragic another young man has died. I’m in shock and we need to get the individuals who did this off our streets. We need to understand, in a meaningful way, why our children are turning to such horrific violent acts."

A cousin said Fola’s mother, who lives near-by, was devastated and described him as a caring and lovely boy with a a bright future. "All we have been told is that he was stabbed in the neck ... His mum is distraught. we are all struggling to understand what happened.

There has been an outpouring of love for him because he was genuinely like that, he was a person people wanted to know and be around." Fola’s mother said she was too upset to speak. Surrounded by family members comforting her, she said: "I can’t speak to anyone at the moment."

Abducted Babcock Graduate Released, Two Friends Arrested by Police

Babcock University graduate, Justina Anochie(pictured above) who was kidnapped by gunmen last Sunday, has regained her freedom.

The Ogun State Police Command said it arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnap, adding that the abductors dropped her off in Odogbolu area of the state on Friday when they realised the police were closing in on them.

The police said no ransom was paid for her release.

However, a source said money was paid to the kidnappers, adding that she was in good health.

Justina finished her studies at the Babcock University in June, 2016. She was reported to have returned to her private residence in the university community, where some gunmen kidnapped her.

The family had told Punch that the kidnappers, after demanding N10m, later agreed to take N5m, adding that efforts to make them take N300,000 were turned down.

It was learnt that the suspects finally released her on Friday after collecting some money.

A family source said:
“She was released on Friday and the family paid money to the kidnappers. But I will not disclose the amount for security reasons. She is safe now. Four gunmen carried out the kidnap.”
But the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said no ransom was paid for the release, adding that two suspects had been arrested.

He said immediately the case of Anochie’s kidnap was reported at the Ikenne division of the command, strategies to rescue her were put in place.

Adejobi, a Superintendent of Police, said the first suspect arrested assisted the police in getting the second suspect.

 He said:
“Presently, the command, through its Anti- Kidnapping Squad of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta, has two suspects who are ‘close friends’ of Anochie.”
He said the forensic investigation and Information Communication Technology skills adopted by the police in the rescue operation compelled the kidnappers to release the victim unhurt.

Adejobi said the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, had ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and ordered that all the members of the kidnapping ring should be brought to justice.

“The CP also commended the relations of the victim for their patience and understanding during the rescue operation,” Adejobi said.
